

Imogene "Gene" Clara Menck Herrmann passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2017. Gene was born in LaCoste, Texas to Walter August Menck and Clara Agnus Jungman Menck, the middle child of five children, all of whom grew up in Natalia, Texas.
Gene earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University, and was the first person in her family to graduate from college. She then taught school before accepting a job as the executive secretary for the first City Manager for the City of San Antonio. While working for the City Manager, Gene met her future husband, Albert Don Herrmann, and they married on May 22, 1958. Gene and Don lived in El Paso, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Arizona and San Diego, California before eventually returning home to San Antonio.
Her life was dedicated to her family and friends and she showed unconditional love, kindness and support to everyone. She was always involved in all of her children's activities and a constant volunteer at their various schools. She was on the Volunteer Council for the San Antonio State School, an active parishioner at Saint Matthew Catholic Church and supported cancer research, Special Olympics, the Salvation Army and the Red Cross.
Gene is preceded in death by her father, Walter August Menck, mother, Clara Agnus Jungman Menck, sisters, Shirley W. Menck and Betty Jo Menck Whitehead and brothers, Walter August Menck, Jr. and James Edward Menck. She is survived by her loving family: husband, Don Herrmann; daughter, Sara A. Herrmann (Dean) and her children, Isabella M. Manuppelli and Jake M. Manuppelli; son John A. Herrmann (Tracy) and his children, James M. Herrmann, Jillian E. Herrmann, Paulina A. Modarelli and Stephanie C. Modarelli,; and son, Paul D. Herrmann (Trish) and his children, William A. Herrmann, Eleanor E. Herrmann and Anna C. Herrmann. Gene is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
