Irasema "Edie" Carrillo

Irasema, also known as “Edie,” was born in San Antonio to Rodolfo G. DeLeon and Luz Alba DeLeon on December 8, 1955. She was a graduate of Brackenridge High School in May 1974 in San Antonio. She legally married Luis R. Carrillo on April 16, 2001, in San Antonio but had shared their lives together for 12 years prior. She worked at Factory Air as a Production Manager for many years and met her love of her life there. She later went to work for CHPD for 10 years as a Deputy Director. During the years, her daughter Shelby attended Mount Sacred Heart she worked as a teacher’s aide to be near her. She then began work for the County of Bexar - Ryan White program for 7 years as an Administrative Assistant. Her final job was with the University Health System as a Business Operations Manager. She was a truly knowledgeable and fun-loving person to be around. She made many friends throughout her working years. She quickly gained respect from fellow workers since she was a stern but professional manager.

Edie is preceded in death by her parents, Rodolfo G. DeLeon and Luz Alba DeLeon.

Edie is survived by her husband of 36 years, Luis R. Carrillo, daughter Shelby Carrillo Rojas (Carlos), sister Araceli Gomez (Lupe), sister Alba DeLeon, brother Rodolfo DeLeon, Jr. (Annie), future grandchild Baby Boy Rojas (Sept 2025), nephew Anthony DeLeon (Brittany), nephew Daniel DeLeon, and great nephew Lennox DeLeon.

The pallbearers will be Luis R. Carrillo, Carlos Rojas, Robert Juarez, Daniel DeLeon, Anthony DeLeon, and Joshua Criddle.

Visitation will be April 2, 2025, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home at 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238. Rosary services will begin at 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be on April 3, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. George Church at 6070 Babcock Road, San Antonio, TX 78240. Burial will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian at 11624 Culebra Road, San Antonio, TX 78253. Arrangements are by Sunset Funeral Home (Bandera Road) 210/521-2111.
