Iremeatha May (Micki) Kuyrkendall Maronge, born on February 4, 1937 in Champaign, Il, entered eternal life the afternoon of Tuesday, May 13th, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Curtis Blaise Maronge, which she has now joined. She was a dedicated and loving mother to five children, Thelma Marie Gregg, Lloyd Joseph Earl Maronge, Jeanette Lynn Criscimagna, Vicki Susan Stigall, Curtis Blaise Maronge II. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren, Jeremy James Moore, Cody James Stigall, Nicole Marie Criscimagna, Craig Hunter Stigall, Curtis Blaise Maronge III, Rolando Joesph Maronge and one great grandchild, Emma Elyse Stigall.
She was born to parents Thelma Marie Thompson and James Clifton Kuyrkendall of Champaign, Il, the third of five daughters. She precedes in death her dear sister, Ruth Ellen Sharpton and brother-in-law, David Sharpton of Champaign, IL; niece, Lorie Hatfield; sons-in-law, William Gregg, Nick Criscimagna, Scott Stigall; and daughter-in-law, Gracie Briones-Maronge.
Mrs. Iremeatha (Micki) Kuyrkendall Maronge was a native daughter of Illinois with a long history of independence “doing it my way.” Her family history points back to New York, NY when it was called New Amsterdam. She personally started out as a pioneer operator with Illinois Bell Telephone. She fell in love, married and took on the life of a military spouse. She bravely traveled to join her husband in Germany with two young children and returned to the United States with four. Once back in the United States with more stateside assignments, one more child was added. This was her life’s greatest gift, as she would say. Micki also loved being creative and giving multiple gifts from her gardening, ceramics and woodworking shop.
Micki was proud to call herself a “Damn Yankee” due to having lots of opinions and doing things her way.
But truth be told, the generosity of self, her loving ways with human and animal life, her practicality and thankfulness for a simple life, got her though this earthly life and into eternal life just fine.
Micki (Mom) will forever be in the hearts of her family and friends. All God’s blessings. You are missed.
