

She led an intellectual, deeply spiritual life, belonged to numerous honor societies and is listed in several reference works, including The World Who's Who of Women and the International Who's Who of Intellectuals. Dr. McCrystal was a college professor for 37 years.
Her teaching career began at Marymount College of Kansas and continued at San Antonio College. Upon her retirement in 1991, she was named Professor Emeritus. She was also a reporter, an essayist, artist and she authored a book, Sunshine in a Cup.
She had a life-long, profound love of animals. She lived close to nature at her ranch and homes in the Hill Country, and on the Gulf Coast, in Rockport.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church, and was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel and Mrs. William F. McCrystal, Sr., a sister, Shirley McCrystal Walsh and brother, Major William F. McCrystal, Jr. She is survived by many well-loved friends, cousins, one nephew and one grandnephew and her darling "troops".
Her body will be cremated and her ashes scattered at sea.
