Irene Salinas, was born on September 29, 1950. On January 24, 2026, she entered into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ, at the age of 75. As a lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas, she resided in her childhood home on S. Spring Street, where she was mom to and raised by her mother Anita Salinas.
She was a very strong and independent woman, whose love for her family guided everything she did. Her best moments, were those spent with her loved ones. Whether it be a day of playing Loteria or taking a road trip to Kickapoo to play the slot machines, it was evident those were the times she had the biggest and brightest smile.
Along with being a loving mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother. She was also a devoted wife for over 25 years to her husband, Juan De La Cruz. Together they built a relationship filled with faith, love, support and companionship, on a strong foundation.
Having worked as an S.A.I.S.D. crossing guard for many years, she enjoyed being a part of her community. The love she had for her community and helping others, led her to join organizations she was passionate about, like Mothers Against Drunk Driving and The Prospect Hill Neighborhood Association. Both allowed her passion and pride to be deeply expressed for things she felt strongly about.
Irene will be remembered for her strength, her caring heart filled with compassion and the deep love she had for her community, friends and most importantly, her loved ones. She will be dearly missed and will always live within the hearts of those who knew her best.
