Irene R. Villarreal

Irene R. Villarreal, a resident of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on December 29, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on October 6, 1966, Irene was a faithful, generous, hardworking, resilient, adventurous, and kind-hearted individual who touched the lives of all who knew her.

Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Villarreal Sr.; her parents, Jesus and Nancy Rodriguez; and her brothers, Jesse Jr. and Robert Rodriguez. She is survived by her loving children, Ernest Jr. and Alma Villarreal; Joseph Villarreal; Katherine and Christopher Gomez; and Kimberly Villarreal. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Marcelina, Ryan, Joseph Jr., Nicholas, Bruce, Alexis, and Jean, who were the light of her life. Irene is further survived by her siblings: George, Elizabeth, Margarita, Esperanza, Jimmy, Marcela, Mary Helen, and Johnny.

Irene will be remembered for her toughness and strength, her unwavering work ethic, and her willingness to always lend a helping hand. She had a deep love for her grandchildren and spent as much time with them as she could. Irene enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the beach, as well as shopping and spending time with friends. She was an organized person with a natural flair for fashion. Irene took pride in putting her outfits together and listening to and dancing to Tejano music. Her warmth, strength, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She will be dearly missed.

A visitation will be held at Sunset North Funeral Home, located at 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232, on January 7, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will follow beginning at 7:00 pm. A funeral procession will take place on January 8, 2026, at 10:30 am at Sunset North Funeral Home. The committal service will be held at San Fernando Cemetery II, located at 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX 78237, at 11:00 am.
