Irma was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, on August 31, 1940. After completing Junior High, Irma obtained her Associate's Degree as an executive secretary in Aguascalientes, Mexico, and went on to work at the Banco Rural de Calvillo. There, she met her husband of over 50 years, Enrique Landin, at a company event in April 1966. She then went on to work for the Union Ganadera del Estado de Aguascalientes before getting married in 1971.
Irma and her family moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1984 where she worked as an administrative assistant at the family owned company, Calendarios Landin, until retiring in August 2019 at the age of 79. She never missed work if she could help it.
Despite the challenges of moving to a new country with a different language and leaving family and friends behind, Irma continued to be positive, energetic, hard working, and always moving forward. She was loved, appreciated, and respected by her new coworkers and friends.
Irma loved music and family above all else. At every family gathering, you could trust to find her at the stereo, turning on some dance music to get the party going. She passed down her passion for dance and music to each generation with love and enthusiasm. If she wasn’t dancing or getting ready for work, then she was taking walks at the mall or with her neighbors and her beloved Yorkie, O’Malley, or working out to her favorite exercise guru, Jane Fonda.
She deeply believed in the power of prayer, and never went a day without saying her daily prayers. She trusted God, and always reminded us to put our faith in Him.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents, Raquel and Oscar; her sisters, Guillermina, Silvia and Raquel; her nephews, Hector, Silvia and Ernesto; and her beloved Yorkie, O’Malley. She is survived by her beloved husband, Enrique Landin; her treasured children, Tatiana, Tomas, Mayra and Erika; her cherished grandchildren Siobhan, Mayra, Carlos, Alejandro, Natalia, Madeleine, Grayson and Emerson; her cherished great-grandchildren, Abby and Ian; and her loving sisters and brother, Carmela, Gabriela and Francisco.
A beautiful reminder of Irma and her last message to us lies in her favorite song "Vivir Mi Vida", especially in the lyrics "Voy a reir, voy a gozar, vivir mi vida la,la,la / ¿Y para que llorar? ¿Y para que sufrir? Si asi es la vida, hay que vivirla / Empieza a soñar, a reír / Siente y baila y goza que la vida es una sola / Vive, sigue siempre pa' lante, no mires pa' atrás / La vida es una".
We will forever remember our mother as a woman who taught us to be strong, to stand by our convictions, be respectful to others, better ourselves in every way, never give up to achieve our dreams and not to be afraid to live fully.
A visitation for Irma will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 N Loop 1604 E, San Antonio, Texas 78232, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM. The Perez Landin Family invites you to stay following the ceremony for a reception.
