On Friday, October 6th we lost the heart of our family, Irma M. Rodriguez. At 79 years young she lived the life she had always dreamt about. Coming from a humble beginning she worked her way up through college and earned her Bachelor Degree from Incarnate Word College.
She embarked on her teaching career one that lasted for over 30 years. In 1965 she married the man of her dreams, Antonio Rodriguez, and built her family around her faith and the love she had for her husband and daughters.
She has touched hundreds of lives through her teaching and her prayers which she recited daily. She was a true angel that blessed all in her path.
Irma is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Santiaga Ocura Martinez and her beloved husband, Antonio Rodriguez.
She is survived by her daughters: Marta Alicia Rodriguez and Ana Lisa Rodriguez; sisters: Josephina Martinez and Minerva Martinez; brothers: Miguel Perez and Ruperto Perez; numerous nieces and nephews along with many wonderful friends and neighbors.
On Thursday, October 19th, visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the chapel at Porter Loring on McCullough with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM.
On Friday, October 20th at 8:00 AM, a Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 4603 St. John's Way with interment to follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Today, we say our earthly goodbye but we know that through our faith we will be reunited once again.
