Irma Jacinta Vera

Irma Jacinta Vera ( Sierra), of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on January 10, 2024at 85 years of age. She was born on April 21, 1938, in Brownsville, Texas. Irma was a caring and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Irma is survived by her son, Carlos, and her loving grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Victor, Monica, as well as her sister Evelyn Kompier and brother Frank Arechiga. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Arnoldo and her son Jaime.

Irma attended Brownsville High School and completed her degree at Texas Women's University. She had a fulfilling career as a teacher and tax preparer, touching the lives of many. But her biggest joy came from her participation in many social activities. Irma was a servant leader at St Anthony’s Parents Council, Theta Omega in Harlingen, and Sembradores de Amistad in San Antonio.

Irma found spiritual solace and community at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Harlingen, Texas, and later at St. Mark's Catholic Church in San Antonio.

Friends and family are invited to attend the viewing on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, located at 6321 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, TX 78238. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 am. at the same location.

She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery during a private, family gathering.
