

Israel Ortiz Serenil, born on May 26, 1951, went to be with our Lord on December 23, 2019, at the age of 68. He is preceded in death by his Parents: Isabel & Brigida Ortiz Serenil; Brothers: Jesus & Abel Serenil; and Sister: Irma Martinez. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Casias Serenil of 46 years; and his children: Priscilla (Joe) Gonzalez, Kristie (Edward) Calderon, Trisha (Richard) Simmons, Kevin (Felicia) Serenil, Keith (Christina) Serenil, and Ryan (Iris) Valdes; a nephew John (Maggie) Mihertadian whom he saw as a son; 15 grandchildren: Cristian, Amore, Julian, Noah, Luke, Celina, Joshua, Anabella, Logan, Ethan, Kaden, Aubrey, Kaleb, Nathan and Meagan; 4 great-grandchild: Roman, Jasiah, Helina, and Kataleya; 5 sisters and 4 brothers; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. Israel touched everyone’s life he was a part of. He was described by many as “One of a Kind”. Israel loved to dance, enjoyed going to the beach, and found any reason to get together with his family. He enjoyed coaching his son’s and grandson’s Little League baseball teams as well as playing golf in his free time. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and his door was always open to family and friends in need. Israel will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2019, at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Road, San Antonio, Texas, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart from the Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 8, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. for an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Celebration to be held at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 4401 S. Flores St., San Antonio, Texas. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
