

With profound love and reverence, we celebrate the life of Iva Marie Humphrey Veal, a devoted mother, cherished friend, and faithful servant. She passed peacefully in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 82. Born in Sumner, Texas, Iva Marie lived a life defined by unwavering faith, kindness, and selfless love.
Her Legacy Lives On
Iva Marie is survived by her devoted son, Nathaniel “Nathan” Scoggins, and his wife, Bertha; her beloved granddaughter, Leah Marie Crossno, her husband, Ethan, and their daughter, Ellie Marie, who brought her immeasurable joy. She also leaves behind her stepdaughter, Karen DeShazo (Charles Thompson) of Lafayette, Louisiana; and step-grandchildren: Jacob Arthur Patton (Heather) and their son, of Los Angeles, CA; Allison DeShazo Buxton (Brandon) and their two sons, of Dallas, TX; and Thomas Evan DeShazo, of Dallas, TX.
Iva Marie also leaves behind a sister she shared a special bond with, Nellie Adams, and her niece, Mattie Watson, whom she loved as a sister. She was deeply grateful to her nephew-in-law and niece, Jerry and Patricia Knoerr, who cared for her with unwavering love and devotion. Her extended family, including nieces and nephews, were among her greatest treasures.
Reunited in Heaven
Iva Marie is now reunited with her husband, William Franklin “Billy” Veal; her stepdaughter, Sharen Angela “Angie” Veal; her stepson, William Keith Veal; her parents, James Edward and Iva Agnes Humphrey; and her siblings: Alice Hill, Ruby Proctor, Ruth Allen, Pauline Morrison, Beatrice Lee, Velma McFadden, Inez Taylor, and Eugene Humphrey.

Iva Marie’s home was a sanctuary of warmth and love, where everyone felt welcome. Her extraordinary gift for hospitality brought people together, creating cherished memories filled with laughter, delicious meals, and heartfelt connections.
Her faith and compassionate spirit were a source of inspiration to all who knew her, leaving a legacy of kindness, joy, and unwavering love.
