Major Jack H. Jones- U.S. Army Retired

Jack was born in Bakersfield, CA where he attended North High School. After joining the army at age seventeen he was able to marry his high school sweetheart, MarJo Mittan. Together, they traveled the world. Jack was a proud graduate of The University of Nebraska. He was nominated to attend Officer’s Candidate School and graduated as a Second Lieutenant. He retired from the military after twenty years of faithful service. After retirement, Jack and MarJo settled in Texas. Jack was a talented softball pitcher and coach. He loved to grow his own vegetable garden, fish, and play golf. He was an avid follower of college football- go Huskers! Most of all, he loved his family and will be missed by many. Jack and MarJo were married for sixty-three years. They had six children, seventeen grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Martha Morris Jones and Avril Jack Jones, his sister Doris Jones Williams, and brothers George and Edward Jones. He is survived by his children Richard Jones, Victoria Jones Pedroza, Sheri Garland Rhodes, Lee Jones, Angela Bailey Kennedy, and Aaron Jones. He passed at the age of eighty surrounded by family in his Texas home. Services will be held at Sunset Funeral home in San Antonio on Tuesday, February 23rd at 1pm. A limited capacity, military honored, burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston. A full reception will be held at High Country Clubhouse, 16418 Cypress Park St, San Antonio, TX 78247 at 2:00 pm.
