Born January 28, 1948, in Danville, Virginia, Jackie’s life was centered on family, rich with love and simple joys. She shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Col Bob East, USAF (Retired), building a life filled with love, shared memories, laughter, and unwavering support.
She was a devoted mother to Robert Edward East II (Laura) and William Scott East (Katherine), and one of her greatest joys was being “Gammie” to her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved dearly.
Jackie embraced life as a military wife for 34 years with strength and grace and dedicated 27 years as a respected Federal Civil Servant, faithfully serving with quiet determination.
She had a natural gift for Southern hospitality—her home was always open, her conversations heartfelt, and her table welcoming. She loved visiting with friends, caring for her dogs, and tending to her thriving potted plants, Jackie found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. In the kitchen, she created treasured memories, especially through her beloved pound cakes and sausage balls.
Jackie’s life was a reflection of love, warmth, faith and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
