During his service, he earned the distinguished Golden Shellback certificate after crossing the Equator at the International Date Line.
Over the years, Jaimé performed with several bands throughout San Antonio, including Alexis Band, Lexus Band, Uptown Band, and his own StreetTalk Band.
In the early 2010’s, Jaimé created Streettalk Magazine, a publication dedicated to Hispanic, Latino, and Tejano music and culture in San Antonio. He loved using the magazine to promote local businesses and recognize musicians, artists, and community leaders he felt deserved more appreciation and recognition.
Jaimé was known for his warm heart, outgoing personality, humor, and ability to bring people together. Through music, conversation, and community, he touched countless lives throughout San Antonio and beyond.
Jaimé is now reunited in heaven with his maternal grandmother, Consuelo “Chelo” Villarreal; his mother, Dora García; his sister, Linda Colin; and his stepfather, Merced “El Chino” García.
He is survived by his son, Jaimé “Xavier” Vidal, and Lori López; his granddaughters, Violet Vidal and Jaime Scarlet Vidal; his sisters, Dolores (George) Piña and Susan (Raúl) Flores; and his brother, Steve García.
Jaimé will be dearly missed by his many family members, step grandchildren, friends, fellow musicians, loyal readers, and his beloved pets.
The family would also like to thank everyone who has donated, shared kind words, and supported StreetTalk Magazine and the StreetTalk Magazine Radio Show on KEDA throughout the years. Xavier Vidal hopes to continue his father’s legacy by keeping the publication going in his honor.
