James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. More than anything, he loved his family and made sure they always knew it—not just in words, but in the way he showed up for them every single day. Whether it was offering advice, sharing a laugh, or simply being present, he made the people he loved feel safe, supported, and deeply cared for.
He was born on October 2, 1966, in Weslaco, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas–Pan American in 1990 and went on to build a dedicated career, serving as Chief Financial Officer at Practice Management Institute since the early 2000s. He took great pride in his work, but his greatest accomplishments were always found at home with his family.
To his wife and daughters, he was everything—their biggest supporters, their protectors, and their constant source of strength. He had a gentle, steady way about him and a heart that put others first. He listened without judgment, gave without hesitation, and loved without limits. He had a way of lighting up any room he walked into, leaving people feeling better just by being around him.
Some of his happiest moments were spent with his grandchildren. He loved being “Grandpa” more than anything—laughing with them, making memories, and enjoying the simple moments that meant the most. He also loved lake days, going out on the boat, traveling with his wife, and staying active by playing racquetball and foosball—always finding joy in time spent with the people he loved. He especially enjoyed taking his beloved dog, Asta, out to eat on patios and bringing her along on car rides, treasuring those simple moments together.
James leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family. His absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but his love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Adams; his daughters and sons-in-law, Jamie and John Carlos Wells, and Iris and Nathan Domenech; his cherished grandsons, Ryan James, Ethan Noah, Evan Joshua, and Aydan Isaiah; his parents, Lois Jean Stuermer, and Daniel Charles and Vernette Adams; his brother, Charles Adams; his niece and nephew, Emma and Charles Adams; and his beloved four-legged baby girl, Asta.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Nelson Scott, and James Vernon and Emma Adams.
