

James Ray Chapman, Jr. (Jim) was born in Llano, Texas on May 27, 1930 to James Ray Chapman, Sr. and Vera Sweet Walker. He went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 27, 2011. Jim proudly served our country for 30 years as a U.S. Marine and retired with the rank of Sergeant Major. Jim served in both Korea and Viet Nam and during his service was awarded the Silver Star, 2 Purple Hearts, and various meritorious commendations.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Lois Lee; parents, James and Vera and his sister, Nancy. He is survived by his current wife, Marilyn; sons, J.R. and wife Susan and David and wife Lourdes; grandchildren, Samantha Morris and husband Zach, Kristen Watson and husband Chad, Katy Chapman and Jeremy Rose and wife Lyndsey and great granddaughters Peyton, Lucy, Libby, Addison. Also surviving Jim are his two brothers, Walker and wife Linda and Royce and wife Barbara as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held on Monday, April 4, 2011 from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the chapel of Cornerstone Church, corner of Stone Oak Parkway and Loop 1604. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 12 noon at the church with Rev. Boots Levine officiating. The interment with full military honors will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
