

He was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 20, 1933 to John S. and Grace McMahon. In 1956, Jim graduated from the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY and also married Shelia Meehan in NYC. He served as a pilot in the USAF and the Oklahoma Air National Guard achieving the rank of Colonel.
After finishing his military service, Jim proceeded to a career as a policy maker for the FAA, then joined Continental Airlines and served as a Captain until his retirement from his outstanding career in aviation.
As a younger man Jim was an avid competitive horseman on the Texas and Oklahoma Hunter/Jumper Circuit.
Jim was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter, Julia Farnham McMahon and his big brother, Ensign Timothy J. McMahon, USN Air Corp.
He is survived by his former wife and mother of their five children, Sheila M. Tinsley of Fayetteville, AR; sons, Tim and wife, Jennifer of Fayetteville, AR, James P. and wife, Margaret of San Antonio, TX, John and wife, Erika of Fayetteville, AR and Clancy and wife, Jennifer of Natural Dam, AR; grandchildren, Brandon Looper, Corrie Mauldin, Bowman McMahon, Shaw McMahon, Liam McMahon, James B. McMahon, Sallie McMahon and Grace McMahon; sisters, Mrs. Richard Graham of Connecticut and Mrs. Robert Janover of Michigan.

Private services will be held at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
