James went to be with the Lord on May 9th, 2016 at the age of 72. He was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas to parents James and Mary Lee Corliss.
He met and married Pat Davis on April 26th, 1968. They had just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. To this union they had a daughter Donna Corliss-Morgan and a son Jeffrey Corliss. He was in the Army and stationed in Germany. On his return worked at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, as an Aircraft Mechanic. He was involved through the Baptist Association as the Regional Royal Ambassadors (RA’s) and Challenger Director and the Texas Baptist Men. He was the summer RA camp director for many years. He spent many years teaching outdoor skills during RA Camp every summer. He loved to sing and lead the music for the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Mary Lee Corliss, sister Barbara Pelham and brother Jerome Corliss. He is survived by his beloved wife Pat Corliss, daughter Donna Corliss-Morgan and husband Tom, son Jeff Corliss and wife Kelly, grandsons Jake and Caitlin Holden, Corey Holden and Mason Holden, and Sister-in- law Barbara Corliss. Numerous nephews, and nieces, great nephews and great nieces and cousins; many loving church family and friends. Pall Bearers: cousins Butch Deckert, and Dan Deckert, nephews Brian Corliss, Michael Pennington, Todd Carver, and Barry Wells. Honorary Pall Bearers: Grandsons Jake, Corey, and Mason Holden, Longtime friend/family Marshall Hunt, the RA Leadership Committee and Texas Baptist Men. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Alto Frio Baptist Camp & Conference Center, P.O. Box 468, Leakey, Texas 78873. Visitation will be held on May 16th at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home from 5 PM to 8 PM. Services will be on May 17th at The Hills Church at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston.
