

James Fuller Dodds passed away on Monday, August 27th, at his home in San Antonio, Texas. After a lengthy illness, Jim went to be with His Lord at the age of eighty-two. He was born in Houston, Texas and reared in the Texas Hill Country near Menard and Brady. Jim graduated
from The University of Texas at Austin with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at The University of Texas, Jim was a tackle on the Longhorn football team and a member of Theta Xi fraternity. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942
and served in the South Pacific aboard a Landing Craft Support vessel. He participated in the first liberty party to go ashore at Hiroshima at the end of World War II. Jim's entire working career was spent with the General Electric Company in the heavy apparatus sales division. He retired as District Sales Manager for the seven state southwest district. Jim was a long time member and elder at Covenant Presbyterian Church. He was an avid fisherman and an excellent wing shot. His passion was introducing young people to fishing, hunting, and the outdoor sporting life. Jim shared his love for the outdoors with many close friends and delighted in hosting them on countless fishing trips to the coast. Jim was an active participant in the Coastal Conservation Association, San Antonio Sail and Power Squadron, and the Alamo Fly Fishers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James C. Dodds, and sister, Dotsie Ann. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Helen, and his sister, Ella Virginia Miller, as well as his children, Ann Dodds Ahuero and her husband Dan, James Edwin and Debbie Dodds, Thomas Ruffin and Georgine Dodds, and Daniel Farmer Dodds and his wife, Eileen. Also, surviving him are his grandchildren Dr. Jason Ahuero and wife, Alice, Dr. Audrey Ahuero, Ryan Dodds, Joey Dodds and wife Lindsey, Tyler Dodds, Jake Dodds, Matthew James Dodds, and great granddaughter Abigail Katherine Ahuero. Step-grandchildren Cliff Hill and wife Carrie, Jarrett Hill, wife Jaime and children Ally and Creston, April Thomas and husband Jake, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family gives special thanks to his caregivers with Vitas Hospice and Caring Companions, especially, Charles Wallace and Wila Jackson.
