

It is with deep respect that we honor the life of James Silva Estrada, a dedicated patriot, a hardworking professional, and a beloved family patriarch who passed away in San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
A Legacy of Service
James’s life was defined by a profound commitment to his country. He attended Edgewood High School, then enlisted in the United States Army in 1960. His distinguished 23-year military career included:
• Valiant Combat Service: Serving during the Vietnam War, where his bravery earned him the Bronze Star Medal.
• Global Impact: Assignments took him across the world to Korea, Panama, and Germany.
• Leadership: Through his steadfast dedication, he rose to the rank of First Sergeant (E-8) before retiring in 1984.
Continued Dedication to Community
Following his military retirement, James didn't slow down. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement and transitioned into the security sector, continuing to protect and serve his community through roles with:
• The Capital Police in Austin, Texas.
• The San Antonio State Hospital.
• The Armored Services Division of Wells Fargo/Loomis, where he worked for a decade.
James was known for a tireless work ethical value he successfully passed down to the generations that followed him.
Family and Remembrance
James was the cornerstone of a large and vibrant family. He is reunited in peace with his parents, Juan and Aurora Estrada; his brother, Benito Estrada; his sisters, Janie Estrada, Margaret Montgomery, and Ramona Uriegas; as well as his brother-in-law Alfred Uriegas and sister-in-law Rachel Estrada.
His memory will be cherished by:
• His Loving Wife: Elvia Gonzales Dominguez Estrada.
• His Children: Richard (Carol) Estrada, James A. (Dorothy) Estrada, Daniel Estrada, Mark (Lupe) Estrada, Christine (Brian) Collister, Rita Dominguez, John Dominguez, and Rachel Dominguez.
• His Legacy: 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive family and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East San Antonio, Texas 78232
A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., at Porter Loring Mortuary North 2102 North Loop 1604 East San Antonio, Texas 78232.
Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m.
