Sept. 17, 1916 to Nov. 19, 2002
For 86 years Jim, Buck, Big Jim, Jim Buck, Grandpa, Uncle Buck, or Big Daddy, shared his selfless life with family, friends and strangers alike. Now his work on earth is done and he is standing in glory with our Lord. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Scottie, three children, Jim G. Ferguson, III and his wife, Sally of Lake Forest, IL, Martha Scott Ferguson Hawthorne and husband, Doug of Dallas and Kathryn Scott Ferguson of San Antonio; 10 loving grandchildren, Jim, Bill, Meredith, Elizabeth, Christopher, Ryan, Kyle, Elizabeth, Megan, Carolyn and her husband, Joel. He is survived also by two sisters, Lee Sinclair of Jensen Beach, FL, and Elizabeth Northcutt and Pres of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and was preceded in death by his parents, Hattie Maude and Jim G. Ferguson and brother, Bill. A successful insurance executive, a rancher and cattle raiser, a pilot, a fisherman, and a golfer all described Jim's activities in life but his real contribution to this world were his patriotism and love of God and Country, his love of family and community, and his unselfish giving of knowledge and friendship to everyone he met - no stranger crossed his path. Jim spent countless hours in guiding and supporting youth and encouraging them to stretch and grow. Jim loved to have fun and his smile was an invitation to all. His home was always a safe haven to family and friends. Many of Jim's gifts to the earth will never be recognized because he was a silent giver. Friend was first in his vocabulary. Jim has many close friends whose lives he touched. This is a better place because of Jim Ferguson - he is loved and will be missed.
