He was a Mason, a member of Alzafar Shrine and Hermann Sons.
James served in the Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946 and served in the U.S.A.F from 1951 to 1952. He was employed with Civil Service for 37 years at Kelly AFB. James was affiliated with the Methodist Church in Staples, TX.
He was preceded in death by his father, James P. Ferrell, mother, Clyde P. Ferrell, first wife, Alicia Ferrell and sisters, Lorene Lyles and Jean Green.
He is survived by wife, Dorothy Psencik Ferrell; son, Kevin Ferrell and wife, Cheryl of Layton, Utah; sisters, Nell Linebarger of Staples, TX and Glenda Reeder; step-sons, Joey Psencik and Tony Psencik and wife, Karen; step-daughters, Mary Hogan and husband, Mike and Gail Schoelman and husband, Al; 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
