

Mr. Fincher served in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his tour of duty in the Navy, he married Edith Brooking, in Temple, Texas, on January 17, 1947. His employment with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company transferred him to San Antonio, where they resided for more than fifty years, before they moved to Lubbock on March 8, 2005.
Upon his retirement as Plant Supervisor in 1987, he had worked 43 years and one day for SBC.
He was preceded in death by his parents of Lott, Texas, and one brother, Millard, of Cameron.
Mr. Fincher is survived by his wife, Edith; one son, Dr. Cecil Fincher and wife, Diane, of Lubbock; two grandsons, Jonathan of Abilene, and Benjamin of Lubbock; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Modene Fincher of Cameron; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Honorary pallbearers will be BG Cecil Jenkins, Joe Will Fincher, Gerry Fincher, Harlan H. Hunter, David Fincher, Rodney Fincher, Irv Willman and Charles Ruble.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made, in Jim's memory, to Christian Heritage School, 16316 N US HWY 281, San Antonio, Texas 78232.
