He was born on Sept. 4, 1942 in Wooster, OH to Charles Franks and Betty Beckett.
James enlisted in the U.S Air Force in 1960 and proudly served for 30 years, where he sharpened his organizational skills and well-known attention to detail.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Candace; two children, Jennifer and Michael; three grandchildren, Robert, Jorden, and Erin; and three great-children, Cheyenne, Koby, and Kenzie.
James enjoyed television, reading, and puzzles. He cherished summer visits from his grandchildren. He was an avid collector of calculators, notepads, and refrigerator magnets.
James will be missed by his family and friends for his generosity, kindness, and wit.

The family will receive guests on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave, San Antonio, Texas 78212, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for visitation. Air Force military honors will be conducted in the Chapel at 7:00 pm.
