James S. Gallovich (Jim) of San Antonio, TX, left this world on October 16, 2022 at the age of 80, in the company of his loving family after a courageous battle with kidney disease. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Jim was born on February 26,1942, in Newark, New Jersey, where he lived until his early teenage years with his parents (Frank Gallovich and Lena Lusardi) and his younger brother, Frank Gallovich. Later, the family moved to Scotch Plains, NJ, where he graduated from high school. Upon graduating from Scotch Plains High School, Jim proudly served in the US Marine Corp from 1960-1964 traveling all around the United States (NC, SC, HI, AZ, CA) as well as overseas (Japan, Guam, Philippines).
He married his loving wife Connie in 1965, with whom he had four children and shared a wonderful 57 years of marriage. They raised their family in South Plainfield, NJ until 1988, then moved to San Antonio, Texas, making many good friends in both places.
Jim had a successful career with Exxon Chemical Company for over 35 years until retiring in 2000. He began his career as a fuel additives technician in Linden, NJ. Then upon transferring to Texas, he joined the Paramins Division, where he led the research and testing of fuel and lubricant additive products.
He enjoyed playing tennis in his retirement, often spending 5 days a week out on the court. His team competed in the USTA National Championships in 2001 and he also dedicated time to working with youth tennis organizations. Jim was an animal lover who adopted many rescue dogs throughout the years. (Brandy, Bud, Sadey, Missy and Sammy). He also loved spending time with his family and often planned family vacations to bring everyone together.
Jim is survived by his wife Constance Gallovich, his four children: Lisa Seward (Art), James Gallovich Jr. (Jamie), Nancy Tucker (Scott), and Kristen Popowich (Eric) as well as his 12 grandchildren Ryan, Alison, Julia, Andrew, Chase, Ellie, Christopher, Olivia, Benjamin, Alexandra, Anna, Matthew, and his great granddaughter, Magnolia.
