He was very active and served as the Director of Juvenile Services at Oakland County Probate Court. He was a major influence behind the creation of the Oakland County Children's Village and a co-founder of Camp Oakland, a camp for underprivileged children. He served on the President's Council on Juvenile Justice, and helped create the Michigan Children's Charter.
Mr. Hunt served in the Navy on the battleship U.S.S. Colorado.
His wife, Eva E. Hunt, preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Frances H. Hunt, Jeanne M. Hunt, Roberta A. Cox; his son-in-law John Cox; James M. Hunt; his daughter-in-law, Caroline J. Hunt; grandchildren, John E. Cox Jr., James M. Cox, Douglas J. Hunt, Elizabeth K. Hunt, Terri Lumbard and Angie Ade; seven great grandchildren; and brothers, Andrew Hunt and Richard Hunt.
