His 40 year career as a Mechanical Engineer took him around the country and around the world. He was a member of the Society of American Military Engineers, San Antonio Audubon Society and a life long member of the Christian Science Church.
James is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Lavender of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Nancy Bryan and her husband James of Georgetown, TX; brother, Bill Lavender, Jr. and his wife Violet of Deer Park, TX; sister-in-law, Anna Beth and her husband John Vaglienti of Houston, TX; nieces and nephews, Karen Lavender, Paul Lavender and Keith Vaglienti; great niece and nephews, Stacey, Nicholas and Joshua Lavender and Travis Fagala.
