On June 19th, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones, James Vincent “Vince” Lee (74) passed away at his home after a long battle with Parkinson’s. Born November 14th, 1948, in San Bernadino, California, Vince joined the United States Army at 20 years old and served from 1968-1988 with the Dental Corps, which he loved dearly, and was stationed overseas in South Korea; he later retired as a Staff Sergeant in San Antonio, Texas. However, military retirement was not the end of Vince’s career life, and he earned his nursing degree from Saint Phillips College and San Antonio College. He loved meeting new people, telling new stories, and creating everlasting memories. He was excited to try new endeavors in nursing, hospice, maternity ward, and traveling nursing before finding his passion with oncology at Lackland Air Force Base. Even though Vince had many titles, he always cherished his primary role as father and husband the most. When he wasn’t working, he could be found in the backyard, enjoying a cigar while watching a Spurs game and spending time with his family. His favorite pastime was retelling fishing trip stories with his kids and having Sunday dinner with the whole family. As the true-blue American Baby Boomer that he was, he enjoyed the dance floor and adored all the Motown and classic rock hits.Anyone who met Vince will never forget his infectious wit and his passion for his family; those lucky enough to be a part of his family or friends were blessed to hear and enjoy the many stories about the adventures he lived. He loved fishing, watching documentaries, reading and learning about history, had a penchant for politics, and enjoyed long talks about his faith and the Bible. He was also a whizz in the kitchen and made the best potato salad in the world. He had a knack for making people laugh and being a prankster and would have you believing his story hook, line, and sinker before laughing and telling you he was just joking.James Vincent Lee is survived by his best friend and wife of 36 years Elvira Tina Lee of San Antonio; his son Jimmy Lee and his wife Sonia; his son Michael Lee; his son Christopher Bratton and his wife Ricci of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; his son Vincent Lee: his daughter Erica Phillips and her husband AJ of San Antonio, Texas; his grandchildren April Lee, Alex, Sydney Lee, Karis Bratton, Sadi Bratton, Gavina Bratton, Deaghlan Bratton, Ayden Sandoval, Mikey Lee, Alayna Phillips, and Madison Phillips; his great-grandchildren Jeremiah Vela, Julian Vela, and James Vela; and his brother Jerry Lee.
