Jim was born on Nov. 20, 1947 in Georgetown, TX to James Benton Manning III and Gail Alicia (McMaster) Manning.
He was a class of '66 graduate from MacArthur High School and attended Southwest Texas State University. Jim began his career with the Sigmore Corporation soon after and retired from Valero Energy Corporation in 2007.
Jim was the recipient of many honors and awards during his career but his greatest accomplishment were the employees he mentored who would become life-long friends.
Jim was a passionate fisherman who caught his prize catch, his soulmate, Dawn, on a fishing pier in Corpus Christi, TX. He married Dawn on July 24, 1974. Soon after, he embraced his role as a father to three children and years later his role as a grandfather.
In retirement, Jim enjoyed fishing the Laguna Madre, deer and dove hunting, seashell hunting with his beloved wife and being a grandfather to two grandsons. He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his granddaughter.
Jim is survived by his wife, Dawn Manning; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Brock Evans; daughter and significant other, Jennifer Manning and Chris Hill; son, James B. Manning V; grandchildren, Luke, Noah and Ella; sister and brother-in-law, Shann and Dennis Gary; sister and brother-in-law, Carla and Jim Radke; aunt Patricia Schlinke and husband Carl; numerous nieces and nephews; and his four rescue dogs, including his treasured Tigger.
