James "Pop" Medlock, also known by family and friends as "JC", age 80, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and devoted son, made his transition from earth to glory on Monday, November 14, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas.
Medlock was born in Trinity, Texas on September 29, 1936, to Dan (father) and Johnnie Mae (mother) Medlock. Johnnie Mae later married Leon "Pa-pa" Evans, and together they raised three children, Medlock, Dan, and Julian.

They have two daughters, Desiree and Denetrice; and one son from a previous marriage, Joe. He loved his family and supported them in all their aspirations. Not only did he support his own children, but a host of others in their various activities.
After graduating Trinity High School, Medlock then served honorably in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He also fought for our country in the Vietnam War. He retired from the Air Force as a MSgt in 1975. He then worked overseas for a short time with Bell Helicopter (before the Shah of Iran ran him back to the United States). After returning from overseas, he taught as an ROTC Instructor for over 20 years. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX and a Master's Degree in Education from Texas A&M University, Kingsville, TX.
Medlock accepted the Lord at an early age. He was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He then joined Grace First Baptist Church, where he also served as a Deacon. He was a Founding member of Now Word Covenant Church, and also served on the original Covenant Board. His dedication and faithfulness was unwavering until his health began to fail in August 2016 and he could no longer attend. He was a devoted son and cared for his elderly parents who currently reside in Trinity, Texas at the ripe age of 104 and 98!
