James Edward Minor (affectionately called Pee Wee by his siblings and those who knew him in his youth) went home to be with the Lord on December 20, 2021. He was born in St. Louis Missouri in 1950 to Estelle and Louis Minor Jr.
James was an extremely hard-working man, a Vietnam Veteran who was awarded The Legion of Merit. After 23 and a half years he retired as a 1st Sergeant of the United States Army. Upon retiring from the military, he became the Director of Education at Texas Careers and was an instructor at Southern Careers Institute. During his military career he also obtained his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University and a Master of Arts Degree in Management from Webster University. Somehow, he still found the time to give back to his community as well, whether it be as a Mason, member of Cornerstone Church where he also ushered, or volunteering with the Special Olympics.
He was a loving and supportive husband and father. Genuine, funny and charming, his family was his greatest success and the love they have for each other is better than any medal he ever received. James leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years, Darlene Minor, his amazing daughters Aisha and Jennifer Minor. His brothers; Marcel and Michael and sisters; Barbra, Victoria, Debra, Jennifer, Peggy, Gloria and Sandra.
James has now reunited with his parents Louis & Estelle Minor Jr., his brothers Clarence and Harold and his sisters Pamela and Pat.
The Minor Family would like to give special thanks to the VA Hospice staff, Dr. Crystal Forman and Mary Jane (MJ) Gutierrez for the excellent care they provided to James.
Family will be receiving guests for James’s service on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cornerstone Church Chapel, 18755 Stone Oak Parkway, San Antonio, TX. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM at Cornerstone Church Chapel. Following will be a procession to the committal service at 2:15 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Shelter #2, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78234.
