I would like to send my deepest condolences to Jessica and her family. Dr. Parlett was such a pleasant and spirited person. May your best memories of him live in your heart and keep you strong always.

I knew Jim in college way back in 1974. We would meet at the Student Union to sit in vinyl booths, drink really bad coffee from styrofoam cups and have the most wonderful conversations. It was a blast! I remember Jim for his love and appreciation of animals, plants and all things beautiful in nature. Reading about his beloved dogs, new plantings in his garden or a description of the birds outside his window was such a pleasure. Jim will be missed by so many people in so many ways.

Jim was one of the first true friends I made at UIW. I enjoyed working with him, but even more than that, I enjoyed talking with him. Jim was a generous man and helped me through a rather difficult time in my life. Jim was, and continues to be, loved.

I wish to express my sincere condolences on the loss of your father. Jim was a friend and I will always look fondly upon the memories of our time spent together. I will greatly miss his wry sence of humor and easy manner. Know that you are your family are in our hearts and prayers.

Jim, you will be greatly missed by many members of the UIW community.

I am so glad I got to know the English major and photographic genius that bubbled under the CIO and retired Colonel. I will miss you deeply, Jim, and am so thankful for the brief but potent friendship we shared. You asked the best questions, listened carefully and with true curiosity, and never settled for less than a truly authentic and two-way exchange of ideas--I will miss our star-crossed, ribald, and flaneur conversations more than you know. When I first met Jim, during his initial interview presentation, I thought, "Dang, this dude is tall." At 6'7", he towered over me and, consequently, I always quipped to Jim that I "looked up to him." As we increaslingly worked together, I grew to appreciate his talents as well as his height. Jim had a penchant for picnic tables and puns and he brought much needed levity to otherwise humorless meetings. I am blessed to have known Jim, however briefly, and I will remember him fondly. To his daughters, please know that Jim thought very highly of you and spoke fondly of you often. He and I presented together during the summer orientation programs and he frequently spoke with fondness and obvious pride of you during our sessions. With deepest sympathy,

Jim Parlett was a great asset to the UIW family. He had a great sense of humor and ability to put everyone at ease. Working almost six years with your father, I know he enjoyed his professional life but not before being totally devoted to his daughters and loving his four-legged friends, Gabby and Jack. He will be missed.

Jim was the most welcoming person I encountered at UIW--a place with nice people. When I was a new guy, he was there to help me resolve problems--be they technical or mundane. Jim had a low key approach with a wise, ironic touch. 
We stopped to talk instead of just passing by on campus. 
Whenever I walk out of the Main Building to cross campus, I will remember the friendly greeting and quick comments of Jim.

I'm so sorry to hear about your father's death. You and your family are in my prayers. God Bless you.

The first time I met Jim was in the fall of the first semester he started at Incarnate Word. When we met he told me that he wanted my job. I did not understand why the CIO wanted my job!? He said he noticed I wore sandals and shorts to work each day in the summer and that looked good to him. He wishes he could dress like that. We had a good laugh about that. His demeanor and his communication skills put me at ease when I spoke with him in any setting. He really helped Communication Arts and moved us forward in our technology efforts on campus. I will miss his leadership and his sense of humor.

Oh another set of wings you have earned ~ an angel in heaven. May the Lord Bless your family and comfort them during these tough times.

Jim will be greatly missed by so many of us. I will miss his laugh and smile the most. Please know you are all in my prayers at this very difficult time. Let the happy memories of your times together sustain you and lift you up. Remember, he will live in your heart until you join him in heaven.

Jim was a great friend to Texas education and work diligently to improve opportunities for students. Jim was a great man that will be missed by all who knew him. Rest well, my good friend.

I was extremely saddened to hear of James death. We worked together for a number of years and I always enjoyed his quick wit and insight into any and all situations. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Jim was an outstanding leader and a good friend. I will miss him.

I first met Jim when he was first hired to be the CTO in SAISD and then when he worked as a consultant for M@A Technology. I always enjoyed conversing with him and appreciated his dedication to improving technology practices in our schools. He will be missed.

Dear Jennifer & Jessica, there was never a man who loved or was more devoted to his daughters than your father. I know he was always proud of everything you did and accomplished, and I know you will miss him more than we can imagine. He told me many times he thought you 2 were his greatest accomplishments. We mended fences last year, and I am grateful we were able to be friends again. Take care of yourselves, and please contact me if there is anything I can do, even if it's just to listen. We had some good times and that is what I'll choose to remember. "But they're so pretty!" "That cat is goin' down!"

Jennifer and Jessica my heartfelt condolencss goes to both of you and your family. I worked for your father as his secretary at San Antonio ISD. I remember him bring you both to work with him when you where younger. He loved you both very much. I'll keep you in my prayers.
