James B. Pearce, Ph.D., born April 26, 1940 in Waco, Texas, passed away on February 5, 2019, at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 59 years, Jeanette Pearce. He is survived by his children, Paul Pearce (Karen), Sheila Van Gundy, Steve Pearce (Christine Rehahn), Jamie Blagg, Phil Pearce (Terri); grandchildren, Curtis Van Gundy (Lindsay Whitfield), Mitchell Van Gundy (Alexus), Jeanette Van Gundy, Mia Pearce, Bennett Pearce, Jordan Blagg, Emily Blagg, Adam Pearce, Jackson Pearce; great grandchildren, Mason Van Gundy, Elena Van Gundy, Liam Van Gundy, Alice Van Gundy. Dr. Pearce taught Latin and Greek in the Classical Studies Department at Trinity University for over 30 years. He was an extremely humble, kind, gentle man who will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends. Services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM; service at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception.
