And it was God’s plan to bring James Seymour Reed Jr into this world on August 31,1950. Affectionately known by his friends and family as “Jimmy”, he brought joy and laughter and unconditional love to all who knew him. He made friends with anyone he met, especially while working for more than 20 years at HEB, and with his neighbors as he walked. He took great pride in his work, whether it was with HEB or caring for his numerous pets over the years. He loved playing bingo, board games, yard work, and social time with his friends.
While he lived in San Antonio his whole life, he loved traveling and was always ready with a bag packed at a moment’s notice. He had a great memory and could recant old movies and TV shows and tell you all about the actors and what happened to them. However, his favorite TV time was watching wrestling which he learned from his mother. He loved sharing memories and his stories provided insight into a life well-lived with a vast treasure chest of life experiences. For the last several years, he enjoyed fishing almost everyday, long walks to visit the horses, and time with family. His faith was strong and he rarely missed an opportunity to go to church. He will be missed by all who knew him, friends and family alike.
God’s plan for Jimmy on earth was completed on September 5, 2021 after a brief stay in the hospital. But his plan for him in Heaven has just begun.
The pain of loss that his friends and family now feel is also part of God’s plan: not to harm us, but to give us hope. For to feel the pain of loss, is the blessing given to us of love. The more we love, the more we grieve it when it is taken from us. But the hope of being reunited in Heaven with those that we have loved, eases that pain. That is God’s plan for all of us. Rest in Peace Jimmy. And welcome the embrace of your parents, sister, brother-in-law, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins that preceded you in death. Your niece and nephew, along with their children and your cousin, as well as your numerous friends, will look forward to seeing you again.
