James Harold Sexton, Jr.

Texas resident James Harold Sexton, Jr., 61, passed away April 24, 2016 at his home in Pleasanton, TX. James was born September 2, 1954 at Lackland Air Force Base, TX to James Sr. and Angelita Sexton. Following in the footsteps of his father, James joined the military in 1971. He served his country in the United States Navy as a gunners mate aboard the USS Paul Revere during the Vietnam War. James was a successful business man in the security sector for Matrix at the San Antonio Airport before joining his wife Susan at Texas Land Exchange. He was a very generous man who was always willing to help out a loved one any way he could. He was a proud Texan who was very fond of his herd of longhorns. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Texas State Rifle Association and the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America. He loved playing the guitar, watching football (especially his favorite team The University of Texas Longhorns), and staying up late watching movies with his grandchildren. His hobbies included collecting stamps, sports cards, law enforcement patches and leatherworking. One of his favorite past times was having family over for dinner on Sundays. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, son and brother who will greatly be missed. He died at home on a Sunday surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Sexton Sr. and survived by his wife, Susan Sexton; son, Eric Sexton (wife Jessica and son Liam); daughter, Crystal Kelly (son Aedan); son, Jay Sexton (wife Kasey and children Shyanne & Kolton); daughter, Jennifer Sexton and son, Landon Sexton; mother, Angelita Sexton; sisters, Debbie, Angela, and Paula, along with numerous other family members.

"We have an angel in heaven watching over us, we call him "Dad."

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Chapel on McCullough Ave. Service Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Porter Loring Chapel. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
