

James H. Sexton, Sr., USAF Retired, was called home to our Lord, November 5, 2006. Harold was born in Dadeville, Ala. April 22, 1931 to Rosie Iola Raughton and Grady Leroy Sexton. He graduated from Opelika High School and enlisted in the U.S.Air Force, taking his basic training at Lackland AFB. While in San Antonio, he met the love of his life, Hazel, they married and had four children. They were stationed in numerous locales as he faithfully served his country, later retiring in San Antonio. He, then, began a career in Civil Services at Kelly AFB as a Special Weapons Technician and received many honors and awards. He is survived by his loving wife and friend, Angelita 'Hazel'Sexton, son James H. Sexton, Jr. and, wife Susan, daughter Deborah Iola Sexton Morris, Daughter Angela Sexton Varoff and husband, Jeffrey, daughter Paula Louise Sexton and partner, Heather Cox; Grandchildren: Keith A. Hughes, John M. Hughes, Mark A. Morris, Michael Morris, Eric Sexton and wife Tamara, Jay Sexton and wife Kasey, Crystal Kelly, Jennifer Sexton, Landon Sexton, Brandon Pittman, Sara Pittman, Nicholas Varoff, Shane Varoff; Great-Grandchildren: Aedan Kelly, Alexis Morris, Shyanne Sexton. Extended family: Brittany Taylor, Christin and Laila Graham; Surviving Sisters: Mary Ruth Sexton Shepard and Mildred Sexton McConnell of Opelika, AL. He was preceded in death by brother, Lee 'Buddy' Freeman Sexton, sisters, Geneva Sexton Milam, Clara Mae Sexton Payne and Dorothy Lorene Sexton Jordan. James was an avid fisherman and loved working on the computer compiling his research and pictures for his family genealogy book. He enjoyed making wine and a good game of cards. He was a brilliant man, a man to be admired, kind, loving, the rock and touchstone for our family. There will be an empty space in the fabric of our lives for the strong man we will remember with love always and forever: James Harold Sexton Sr.
