

James N. Sorensen, age 72, died August 5, 2005 in his San Antonio home after a year long battle with cancer. He was born June 7, 1933 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1951.
Jim served in the Air Force during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Airman First Class.
His career with Southwestern Bell began in 1956 as a Yellow Pages Salesman. During the following 30 years, he held various managerial positions in Oklahoma and Missouri before coming to San Antonio as Directory Regional Manager for south and west Texas. He ultimately retired as Directory Regional Manager, of the north region, Dallas.
Jim was passionate about his love of family, God and country.
His varied interests, which he shared with family members, included RV'ing, golf, hunting and fishing.
He was an active member of Abiding Presence Lutheran Church along with Helen, his wife of 52 years. Jim was a Master Mason of the Delta Lodge No. 425 of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jim's true avocation was his lifelong love affair of the automobile. He enjoyed finding a good 'clean' car for family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Elmer W. Sorensen, his mother Effie Sorensen Martin, and his son Gregory Dean Sorensen.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter Sharon Cornell and husband Jim; son Wayne Sorensen and wife Laurie; daughter-in-law Ann Sorensen; grandchildren Marisa and Bryan Cornell; Julie and Randy Sorensen; Eric Sorensen and wife Kim and Michael Sorensen.
