

Jim was an extraordinary husband, father and brother. When he was growing up, he was known as Mike, and was affectionately known as "Bubba" to his brother and friends. Jim was born in Tulsa, OK and grew up in San Antonio, earning the right to be called a true Texan.
He graduated from MacArthur High School in 1964, where he held the Texas state track record for high hurdles for many years. He attended North Texas State University on a track scholarship. Afterward, he proudly served in the U. S. Army, serving in Korea. He met his wife, Dottie while stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, where he served as a nuclear missile specialist. After serving in the army, he and his wife moved to San Antonio.
Over the ensuing years, Jim developed multiple interests. He was an exceptional athlete, playing on state championship flag football teams and numerous championship softball teams, where he was known for his lighting fast speed. He enjoyed flying, earning his sailplane rating and subsequently teaching his son to become one of the youngest pilots to ever solo in a sailplane.
He also enjoyed watching his daughter through many years of dance competitions. He was an avid motorcycle rider, taking numerous marathon trips in freezing weather on his Goldwing with his wife and friends. Beginning with go-carts, Jim was an accomplished and well respected race car driver.
He won numerous races and served for many years as the race director for the Texas Dwarf Car Association. Jim was an exemplary independent insurance agent for many years, earning many prestigious state and national awards, with customer service as his #1 concern. Jim was a God loving man, caring and compassionate to those around him, imparting a legacy of strong Christian leadership to his family and children. Jim and Dottie had been happily married for 35 years and was extremely proud of his son, daughter and daughter-in-law.
Our world would be a better place with more men like Jim. We will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gloria Vinall and James Vinall. He is survived by his wife Dottie Vinall of San Antonio; son Shane Vinall and his wife Debbie of Pomona, CA; daughter, Casie Vinall of Washington, D.C.; brother, Kevin Vinall and his wife Gwen; nephew Ryan Vinall of Austin, TX; nieces, Courtney, Ashley and Brittney Camarillo all of Boerne, TX.
