'I have known Jim since 1993. I worked with him in Malaysia for Reading and Bates for two years. Jim was not only a good employee and dedicated to his job, but was a good friend, whom cared for the people he worked with, and loved his family at home. I would say that I found it as a shock, to learn of his passing. But I would say that it was a pleasure to have worked with, and to have known Jim.

'I first met Jim in Korea during the construction of the Deepwater Discovery. 
Being on the Marine side of the operation I did not have a lot of contact with Jim, however, when our path crossed during the work day he always took the time to say hello , make a comment and then give you that big smile of his ! I shall miss him as I know everyone will. The Deepwater Discovery was blessed having him on board as O.I.M.

'I first met Jim for the start up of the Deepwater Discovery in Houston. We spent some quality time together when not working, visiting various places of interest around Houston. 
Jim found my sense of humour very frustrating at first and myself irritating at times, in the formative years on the Discovery. But we both came to respect each other and worked hard at our differences and I can say with hand on heart that he became an excellent mentor. We certainly came to appreciate each other and at long last Jim really did start to enjoy my sense of humour So he told me!!!. We had many long and enjoyable conversations covering a large spectrum of life which covered both our working enviroment on the Deepwater Discovery and most important our home life. 
He will be sadly missed by all in the SubSea department.

'Jim was such a great leader and friend, I will miss him too. I'll always remember the way local crews responded to Jim, with respect and admiration. Jim always displayed the Core Values, representing the company in a professional manner even under difficult circumstances. I remember many times Jim taking on situations personally to protect the crew from distractions that might have otherwise been devastating to moral. He took so much pride in the Deepwater Discovery's success, not for personal reasons, but for his TEAM. He put together a crew of normal guys, I included, and developed a professional business unit. I saw several crew members excel under Jim's leadership, achieving more than they thought they were capable of only because Jim put his confidence in them and convinced them that they were better than they ever dreamed. Jim could see through the outer appearance of an individual to the point that he only saw the potential. He was never judgmental of people and told it like it was. I'll always have great memories of Jim and I know that Discovery Team are really hurting now and we'll keep them and Jim's family in our prayers. person Jim was.

'Although Jim has sadly departed our lives, we will always remember his fine principles and his fantastic sense of humour. After working alongside Jim through many testing and demanding times during the start up phase of Deepwater Discovery project, he was full of support and dedication to the project's success. We were able to climb every barrier that was put before us with the help of a fine leader, Jim was that special person who helped us make our goals and records of the Deepwater Discovery. He was my friend and work mate, I will sadly miss him.

'I have only worked for Jim three years since joining the Deepwater Discovery crew. Through those three years we became good friends as well as co-workers. Jim helped me to overcome some fear and doubts about my abilities and helped me to believe that i could do anything i set my mind to do. He was never to busy to talk with you on or off the rig, taking an interest in whatever you had to say or questions you had. Out on the rig Jim would always call us "his boys" good or bad we were all "his boys" out there. His leadership, sense of humor, and friendship will always be remembered in the hearts of all who worked with him on the Discovery. We all know that someone will take over his position on the Discovery, but no one will ever be able to take Jim Wilson's place.'

'Jimmy was a great dental patient for all of these years. His world travel, his stories, and his wit kept us in awe of the great person he was. We will miss him.
