She graduated from Albany Business College and the Marion Whelan School of Practical Nursing in Geneva, NY. Jane devoted herself to her family and her church. Married to the love of her life for 62 years, Jane and Bill served in leadership positions in the many churches they attended throughout the Northeast, including the Fellowship of San Antonio. In addition, Jane was an enthusiastic choir member in every church she attended. She also was a member of the Mohawk Valley Chorus in New York and the Hill Toppers Chorus at Independence Hill, San Antonio. Jane’s position as a descendent of the Veeders, one of the original 16 Dutch families to settle what became Albany, NY in 1658, led her to explore genealogical connections to the American Revolution. Her research uncovered her great, great, great grandfather Abraham Veeder, a sharpshooter, which allowed her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. She went on to co-found the Emily Geiger Chapter of the DAR in Beaufort, SC in the 1980’s. Jane prided herself on her participation in the Alamo Chapter of DAR in San Antonio and especially enjoyed welcoming new American citizens at Naturalization ceremonies.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, H. William, her daughters, Karen Wagner and Tracey Lingo and her grandson, Dustin Bollinger. She is survived by her children: Lynne Balbert (Peter) and Mark Bollinger (Kristy (dec)).
In addition, she is survived by her loving sons-in-law: Michael Wagner and Joseph Lingo (Michelle). Jane was blessed with six grandchildren: Rebecca Kahn (Jeffrey), Rachel Balbert, Reika Balbert, Risa Brown, Renna Berman (Josh) and Scott Bollinger (Elizabeth). Jane also enjoyed the love of ten great-grandchildren: Emily, Isaac “Zac”, and Hannah Kahn, Pierce Brown, Rory and Blythe Berman, Christoper, Andrew, Kayla and Dustin Bollinger II. She was also a great-great-grandmother to Theodore and James Bollinger.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Erin Reese, Angie Cordero, the staff at Independence Hill AL, Jonell Massingill and the caregivers of Elite Home Health and Ashton Balyeat of Abundant Hospice for their dedicated, compassionate care.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Independence Hill Assisted Living. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canine Companions or the American Cancer Society.
