Jane Houston Sewell, age 91, of San Antonio, died Monday, June 8, 2009. She was strikingly glamorous and with a zest for life even into her 90's. Born on January 29, 1918 and was raised by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T.U. Taylor in Austin, where he was the Dean of the Engineering School at the University of Texas for over 40 years. Jane raised two of her children in San Antonio and then moved to Dallas, where she married her second husband, the love of her life, Tom Randal Sewell, and became an interior designer for 40 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Daughters of the American Revolution, American Society of Interior Designers and Highland Park Methodist Church in Dallas. Family heritage was important to her as she traveled to Scotland and read everything about the Sam Houston family which she was a descendent.
