

She was born on August 29,1936, in Braintree, MA and died at the age of 85 in San Antonio, Texas.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey L. Campbell and wife Debbra, and her daughter Julie Campbell Aldaz Guerra and husband Marco; two grandchildren, Sophia Isabella and Alexa Rae Aldaz, five step grandchildren, Michael & Sarah Wilson, Jonathan & Sara Wilson, Katherine & Hillary Cromer-Wilson, Analicia, Marco and Belinda Guerra, her "adopted" grandchildren Antoinette & Alex Cavazos, Hallease "Kim" & Chris Narvaez, Vanessa, Nicole and Matthew Vidal as well as her step great granddaughters, Charlotte Riley and Nali Pili and her beloved "adopted great grand son" Cedric Cavazos. She is also survived by her beloved best friend of over 48 years, Barbara Ferrebee and her dear friend of over 30 years, Linda Clemons as well as many close friends who loved her. She is preceded in death by her mom, Merle Alice Smith Merriam and her father Joseph OConnor, husband Ernest Charles Persyn and former husband Leslie S. Campbell.
Janet spent over 20 years of service at the San Antonio Police Department as a supervisor for the School Crossing Guard Program. Upon retiring with the police department, she began a new career at the age of 56 as the Claim Center Coordinator for the Texas State Lottery San Antonio. She spent 25 successful years at the Lottery, she was recognized for excellence and worked until the age of 81 which was a phenomenal accomplishment.
Our mom loved all things East Coast especially the fall. She had a great love of sports, including her mad love for the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots. Her mom and her had season tickets to the Red Sox games. She absolutely loved attending performances at The Majestic Theatre and one of her proudest moments was watching her beloved granddaughters perform together on stage for The Russian Nutcracker. She enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren watching various basketball games, track-meets, church choir performances, dance recitals, school plays and all things which involved the arts.
She was a stylish lady who loved music and love to cut a rug on special occasions. She was a private lady who loved the Lord in her own way. She loved her shoes and handbags. Shopping was a passion and enjoyed passing that on to her all of her granddaughters. Whenever anyone spoke about her, she was always said to be the sweetest lady. At her hospital stays over the last couple of years, she was always the staffs favorite patient. She enjoyed making new friends. She was loved and admired by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
Viewing will be held at Porter Loring North Mortuary on Sunday October 17, 2021 from 5-7. Funeral services will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church on Monday October 18, 2021 at 2pm.
