Janet Louise Crawford

Janet Louise Shaw Crawford, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026. Born August 8, 1961, in Huntsville, Texas, Janet was the cherished daughter of the late Major (Ret.) Troy Lee Shaw Sr. and Hattie Ruth Jeffero Shaw.

Janet found joy in creating beauty wherever she went. She loved gardening, nurturing plants and watching things grow, and she poured that same attention and care into the people she loved. Her creativity came alive through arts and crafts, where she could turn an idea into something special with her own hands. And if you really knew Janet, you knew there was always room for one of her simple pleasures—a good, cold Coca-Cola.

But above all else, Janet treasured her family.

Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband, Don Williard Crawford, with whom she shared a beautiful life filled with laughter, companionship, and beautiful memories. Together, they built a family grounded in love, faith, and resilience.

Janet’s greatest legacy lives on through her devoted children, Courtney Crawford Williams, and her husband JaMarcus, Carla Crawford, and Camile Crawford. She loved them dearly and took pride in watching them grow into the woman they are today. Her love for her family came with a little wisdom, a little direction, and perhaps a reminder that Momma knows best—but underneath it all was a love that never wavered.

Her granddaughters, Maleah Dawn Clark and Roslyn Louise Williams, held an especially precious place in Janet’s heart. They were the lights of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them, from the ordinary everyday moments to the memories they will carry for the rest of their lives. Janet loved watching them grow, laugh, learn, and thrive, and the love she poured into them will continue through generations.

Janet’s brother, Troy Lee Shaw Jr., (April) stood by her side throughout, providing unwavering support, love, and a bond that can never be broken. Her extended family and a host of dear friends enriched Janet’s life, and she, in turn, enriched theirs with her kindness, humor, creativity, and generous spirit.

She could make you laugh when you needed it, tell you the truth when you didn’t want to hear it, encourage you when you doubted yourself, and love you through it all.

Janet did not simply live life—she lived it on her own terms. She planted seeds, both literally and figuratively. Some grew into beautiful gardens. Others grew into friendships, family traditions, cherished memories, and generations of people who were better because Janet loved them.

Janet Louise Shaw Crawford will be deeply missed. There will never be another woman quite like her—and perhaps that is exactly how she would have wanted it.

Janet's family invites all who knew and loved her to join them in honoring her memory and celebrating the remarkable life she lived.

A Repass will take place at Holy Redeemer Church, 231 Vargas Alley, San Antonio, TX 78203, US, on September 1, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
