She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 27, 1919, and married Col. Charles Brown Lingamfelter in 1941. They raised four sons while traveling the world as an Air Force family. They were stationed at many different locations such as Nanking and Shanghai, China; Washington, D. C.; Honolulu, Hawaii; Waco, Texas; Amarillo, Texas; Selma, Alabama; and Biloxi, Mississippi.
After retiring from the military they resided in Austin and Lago Vista, Texas and began a real estate agency. In addition to being a realtor, Janet was an active volunteer in her church in Lago Vista and local hospitals in Austin.
She was also a fearless golfer and was a member of the "9 Hole Ladies" group in Lago Vista until well into her 80's. To say she was an avid and talented bridge player is to understate it. She played bridge and was competitive well after her 93rd birthday. She loved the game and the friendships which grew from her participation.
She will always be loved, admired and remembered by her family and friends whose lives she touched with a glowing spirit. Janet had a unique quality of projecting compassion, love and genuine concern for others in a quiet and humble way.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992 and her son, Peter S. Lingamfelter in 1999.
Janet is survived by her sons, Charles Brown III (Katharine), Christian (Luella) and R. Sam (Connie) Lingamfelter and daughter-in-law, Niesha Stark (Mike); grandchildren, Christopher (Cynde), Stacy, Bronson (Trish), Danny (Sarah), Heidi, Jenny, Peter (Hannah), Samantha, Kelly (Sarah), Kate (James), Max (Oumama); great-grandchildren, Paris, Nina, and Charlize Lingamfelter, Brenna and Hope Burris and Brown Cauldwell Lingamfelter.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
