Janet Randle, a beloved wife, mother, artist, and lifelong San Antonian, was born in December 1930 and passed peacefully in December 2025 at the age of 95. She was a proud Texan with deep family roots in San Antonio, tracing back beyond the 1700s to the Canary Islands, Spain, and Germany.
She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, where she was a Lasso Girl, and at 18 briefly worked in sales at Southwestern Bell.
She met the love of her life, Ernest Baylor “Bear” Randle, approximately three years before they married in June 1950. Together, they shared 75 years of devoted marriage, inseparable in love and companionship. Their bond was evident to all who knew them, and they were often seen holding hands, sharing kisses, and laughing together. She often said their love was beyond compare.
In the 1960s, she and Baylor purchased a lake home in Granite Shoals on Lake LBJ, where countless family memories were made. She loved the water and delighted in water skiing, riding water discs, and swimming in the lake.
Creativity was a constant thread throughout her life. She explored ceramics and painting before becoming a dedicated oil painter. She took art classes through the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation program at Lions Field. In 2005, she was juried into the River Art Group in La Villita, where she joyfully worked one day each month and met visitors from around the world. Even into her nineties, she continued painting, creating landscapes, still lifes, Texas bluebonnets, and beloved scenes of historic San Antonio.
Her interests extended beyond painting to music and design. She played both the accordion and organ and enjoyed buying, selling, collecting, and creating jewelry for herself and others.
She was a member of San Pedro Presbyterian Church and found comfort and guidance in Psalm 23. Family was her foundation, and she never missed an opportunity to let those she loved know how much they meant to her. One of her favorite songs was I Love You a Bushel and a Peck.
She enjoyed traveling in their motorhome with the Renegades, a group that helped earn her affectionate nickname, “The Sheriff,” and brought laughter wherever she went. She also loved dancing, antique cars, and was a fierce competitor when it came to board and card games with family and friends. Known for her baking, especially her Christmas cookies and her famous holiday fruit salad, she brought humor and a strong spirit to every gathering. She cherished her routines, never missing a Friday hair appointment and always keeping her nails painted blue.
In her final years, she often spoke of her desire to go home. Her prayers have been answered. She is now home, reunited with her Creator, her beloved Baylor, her daughter Linda, and many loved family members who preceded her.
Her life was one of love, creativity, and deep family roots.
