Janice Marie Blount, Lt. Col, Retired, USAF, (“The Colonel”), passed away peacefully on Friday, November 5, 2010. She was 90 years old. Born in Mansfield, LA on July 20, 1920, she was a dedicated surgical nurse serving in the US Army and later, the US Air Force. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Margaret Blount and niece, Sandy Black. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of life service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Paul Charron officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. The family wishes to express their appreciation and profound gratitude to friends who supported Janice with love and companionship.
