It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janice Mata Moreno on July 26, 2018. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Jessica Ashley, her son Jeremy Augustine, and her husband of 27 years Augustine “Augie”; brother Jack Mata, sister JoAnn Valentine (John Roy), twin sister Janet Mata Moreno, sister in law Yolanda Mata and many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. Janice was preceded in death by her parents Jesus H. Mata, Josephine R. Mata and brother Jesse R. Mata.
Janice was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 24, 1970, and lived in San Antonio her entire life. She was a kind, beautiful, loving, and outgoing woman who befriended everyone. Janice made an impact on everyone’s life. One of her passions in life was photography and the Mac Cheer Team. Janice took pictures of everyone and anyone involved in the MacArthur High School Athletic, Spirit, and Band program. She was considered MacArthur High School Brahmas number #1 Fan and given the name of “Mac Cheer Mom.”
She had a great sense of humor. She was a beautiful person who had a way of making those around her feel happy with her infectious smile and contagious laughter. Janice was very compassionate, enjoyed working towards helping to mold young men and young ladies into becoming great men and women, and nurturing whoever she was with.
She was committed to her job, loved the people she served, and always made time to see that she met her clients needs. She spent countless hours nurturing relationships with her clients who adopted her as their own.
Janice’s biggest passion was God and her family. Her love for praise and worship was her connection with God. She spent many nights listening to praise and worship music and spending devotional time with God. Building a strong Godly foundation for her family was important to her. She always made sure that no matter what circumstances our family was facing in life, we were to give thanks to God in all things. Mom, Honey, we will miss you dearly - can’t wait to see you again! “Olive Juice, Momma”
Our family would like to thank Texas Oncology Stone Oak, Mays MD Anderson San Antonio, and Vitas Healthcare for their compassion and care for our mom during her final days.
