

Janis Annette Hohner Lane passed peacefully on October 8, 2014 at the age of 79. Born on July 22, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas, she was a 1953 graduate of Brackenridge High School where during her senior year, began working at the now historical Joske’s Department Store in downtown San Antonio. That was the first of many places of employment throughout her life that included USAA, Southwest Research Institute, The University of Texas at Austin, Baptist Memorial Hospital and Texas State Bank, to name a few.
She is survived by her son Charles Russell (Rusty) Belz; daughter Rhonda Kaye Fogle and her husband Mark; son Robert Steven Lane; grandchildren, Jade Catherine Fogle, Greer Caroline Fogle, Tucker Bowman Fogle, Keil Bradley Fogle and Robert Steven Lane II; sister Joan Lage and husband Jerry; brother William (Bill) Hohner and wife Linda; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends Charlotte and Bob Jorgensen. She is preceded in death by her daughter Brenda Gaye Belz, parents Lola Mae Bowman Hohner and Robert (Bob) Emmett Hohner, maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts and uncles and daughter-in-law Janet Marie De La O-Belz.
An avid sports fan, Janis regularly followed the San Antonio Spurs, Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Texas Rangers. She also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and even had the opportunity to attend some of their home games at the legendary Wrigley Field. She was also a former President of the Alamo Square and Round Dance Association, a hobby she very much enjoyed.
Most importantly, she was a loving and tireless caregiver for her mother and great uncle.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at Sunset Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Jack Stevens of Riverside Baptist Church of which Janis was a lifelong and faithful member. The interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Riverside Baptist Church in Janis’ name.
