Born on February 18, 1934, in Mertens, Texas, JD was the son of JD Green Sr. and Vessie Mae Green. He was known for his quick wit, strong personality, and profound love for his family. JD had a remarkable ability to touch the lives of everyone he encountered.
Throughout his life, JD had many passions, including golfing, enjoying See’s Candies, and savoring a hot summer day with a hurricane in hand. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, proudly serving for 8 years and was a Korean War veteran. After his military service, JD settled in Los Angeles, California, where he built a successful career and raised his family. He instilled in his children and grandchildren the values of hard work and the importance of education. In the spring of 1993, JD retired from Zellerbach Paper Company after many years of dedicated service.
JD is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Annette Green; their two children, Jerred and Brian; daughter-in-law DeLease; his two granddaughters, Jaden and Sydney, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three sisters, Mercy Lee Green, Bernice Hutchings, and Odell Thomas.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 9:30 AM. Both viewing and service will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East SA, TX 78232. The Committal Service will follow and begins at 11:15 AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. SA, TX 78209. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life and share their memories.
