Jean E. McPherson passed away on January 19, 2021, at the age of 92, at her residence at The Inn at Los Patios, where she had resided for the past six years. She was born on March 16, 1928, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Merrill and Edna Ziegler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; daughter, Debbie; son, Bill; and her sister, Joan Ferguson.
She is survived by her loving children, Robert McPherson (Shelby) of Blairsville, Georgia, Daniel McPherson of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Michael McPherson, Matthew McPherson, Patrick McPherson, Emily Hall, Joseph Hall (Meghan); and three great-grandchildren, Amelia, Breamon, and Caleb, along with numerous other family members.
Jean's parents moved their family to the Japanese Relocation Center in McGehee, Arkansas, during World War II, where her parents taught for three years. She graduated from high school there and then moved to attend Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. It was there that she met the true love of her life, Norman. They married on June 25, 1946. They were married for 58 years prior to Norman's death.
Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She and Norman spent 12 years in Cuero, Texas, before moving to San Antonio in 1970. After completing her degree at Southwest Texas State University, she enjoyed a career as a Music teacher in Yoakum, Converse, and Kirby, Texas. When she and Norman retired, they enjoyed working during the summers at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado, for ten years. She was an active member and choir member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in San Antonio. Jean loved all kinds of music, the San Antonio Spurs, and would spend hours working on jigsaw puzzles or reading. She delighted in playing card games and Yahtzee anytime the family was together.
Jean truly lived by the Golden Rule and was servant-minded throughout her entire life. For those who had the pleasure of knowing Jean through the years, she will always be remembered as a loving and caring person. She will be missed by all...until we meet again!
